-> Go to part 2 3 4

In this classic rock track, Randy Rhoads displays his timeless rock chops. Here you will learn some Van Halen style tapping, as well as some interesting whammy bar use. You will also get a taste of some Randy style speedlicks. |
| Scale and chord theory |
This solo (and song) is based around the tonality of F# minor. Randy uses the F# minor scale (F# - G# - A - B - C# - D - E) and the
F# pentatonic scale (F# - A - B - C# - B).
The main riff is a killer:

d|---------------------------------|
a|-----4---5---4---2-0---0-2-0-----|
e|-2-2---2---2---0-----4-------4-0-|

The solo beginns with this sixteenth note triplet tapping pattern:

|

e|-----------------|
b|-14p10p7h10p7h10-|
g|-----------------|
d|-----------------|
a|-----------------|

...and evolves into this tapping lick, which is also a sixteenth note tapping pattern, but phrased differently. This kind
rhythmic variation produces an interesting effect (for more such tapping licks see forum moderator Tank's guest lesson).
