Slash solo continued (part 3)
->Go to part 1 2 4
This part of our Slash guitar lesson is a nice introduction to bending. Bending to the right pitch is not an easy thing to do, here are three imprortant things you should think of:
- Use as many fingers as possible to execute the bend, this will give you more strength
- To get maximum sustain, your left hand finger should be as close to the "upper" (upp = towards the right hand) fret as possible
- Finally, play the note you are trying to reach to without bending, then bend to it and see if you get to the right pitch
If you don't understand this, don't worry, just try to imitate what I am doing in the video. |

Here is the first, and probably the most difficult bend pattern in the solo:
|
|
e|---------------------|
b|15b---15-17b-17b-17b-|
g|---------------------|
d|---------------------|
a|---------------------|
e|---------------------
To get an idea of which notes you are trying to reach with the bend, play these slides. Then go back to the previous bend pattern, and try to achieve the same thing with bends.
|
|
e|--------------------------------|
b|-15/17--15--17/19--17/19--17/20-|
g|--------------------------------|
d|--------------------------------|
a|--------------------------------|
e|--------------------------------|
|
The come this cool little bend lick:
|
|
e|------------------|
b|-17p15----17b-17b-|
g|-------16---------|
d|------------------|
a|------------------|
e|------------------|
|
Once again, play the following pattern to hear the pitch you are trying to reach with the bends, then go back to the previous lick, and play it with bends.
|
|
e|-----------------------|
b|-17p15----17/19--17/19-|
g|-------16--------------|
d|-----------------------|
a|-----------------------|
e|-----------------------
