Nuno Bettencourt "Rest In Peace" guitar lesson
-> Go to part 2 3 ending
 |
This solo illustrates guitarist Nuno Bettencourt's unique sense of rhythm and melody. It deals with some characteristic "bend-release-bend" licks, as well as some Steve Vai influenced slides. The solo also contains some complex picking- and legato patterns, more suitable for the advanced guitarist.
If you are a beginner/intermediate guitarist, remember this: Nailing one single lick/phrase from this solo is more than enough to make progress, you really do not have to learn the whole solo. In other words, do what you like with the solo, as long as you get inspired...
N.B. Nuno tunes down to Eb, but the backing track for this video is raised a half step instead, this way we do not have to tune down. This also means that if you want to play with the song you will have to tune down your guitar. |

Here is the tab for the first part of the lesson:

This next lick contains a typical Steve Vai slide. It ends with, once again, a "bend-release-bend" pattern, watch the video closely to get the fingering right for this last bend.
