Once again - bend up to pitch very quickly!

Watch out for the sloow release of the first bend.

AAhh what can I say - definately my favorite lick in this solo. The "burst" created by the muted notes is just awesome. Rewind the slow video many time to see how I produce the the two "x" notes: the first one is done with the pick, the second one with the right hand middle finger.

I work very hard to incorporate this kind of technique into my own playing/improvising. Getting the right strength and attack in the right hand takes some time, but once mastered it is an ultra cool tool for improvisation. You can pick any four notes which you like and create awesome rhythmic stuff out of it (similar to skank ).

g|--------9---------9--------9--------9--------9--------9-|

Because all fingers can be "assigned" to different strings when playing fingerstyle, and stay there - licks like these are made possible. I could hardly play this purely with the pick, I'd have to jump around like a madman + it would not sound smooth.

d|------------------------------------12---10h12----------|

The first three muted notes are typical to Mark's style of playing - I get the impression he "aims" right before he shoots.
